Brit and I went to Las Vegas to the Lion King for her birthday! We sure had a great time. If you get the opportunity to go to the Lion King - GO!!!! I cant believe my sweet Brittany was born 18 years ago. In so many ways it seems like just yesterday. I am so grateful for her - for her testimony and good example. For her help and for the amazing way she cares for her brothers and sisters. She is such a wonderful person! I love you Brit!!!

Dave and I just got from a great trip. We got to go to Georgia and visit my brother and his family and then Gordon and Gretchen went to to Bahamas with us! It was great! Dave and I have taken up Scuba diving this past year. I have to say it has been so much fun! And the best thing is that it is something we both love that we can do together. I am so thrilled that Dave gets so excited about going. I don't remember him ever getting so excited about anything in the 19 years that we have been married. Love it!

A Memorable Memorial Day 2011

We had the best time camping with some dear friends! We went to White Horse Lake it was beautiful! We decided to head out on Monday morning to get some stuff done at home. I had Brittany, and the little boys with me in the truck and Dave had the rest of the kids and a couple of our friends kids with him in the van. They decided to stop and fish just one more time. My boys were tired so I decided to keep on going! I had 2 kayaks and one canoe with me which ended up being a huge blessing! I was so worried about the boats moving that I kept looking in my mirror every few seconds. I looked back to see flames coming up! I slammed on my breaks and yelled for Brittany to get

Luke out! I was trying to get JD out but I couldn't get the seat belt off. I saw flames in back of the truck and I was a little more than panicked! I finally got him out and we ran about 30 - 40 feet when the first explosion happened! Ok now I will plug - EVERYONE needs to get a seat belt cutter and keep in on your key chain! The fireman told me the reason I couldn't get JD out was because when your body is in "fight or flight" you loose your fine motor skills! I am still SHOCKED at how quickly everything went down. It was probably about 2 - 3 minutes from the time I saw the flames to the time the first explosion happened.
We ran away and I called 911. We just watched the truck burn for about 35 minutes until the first rescue people arrived. I got a hold of Dave (FINALLY) I was so worried he would drive up to the truck and not know we were ok and try to run up to it. The fireman came and put the fire out and told me it was an electrical fire - which is interesting because our truck has never worked right. The fuel gage would go from empty to full to anything inbetween - the cd player would over heat after a few minutes of listening to a cd and not play anymore - the ac on the passinger side NEVER worked - it would blow HOT air only! And the console always felt hot - we always found these things to be annoying! But had NO idea how dangerous it was. The ironic thing is that yesterday 2 days after the fire I received a letter from GMC telling me there is a recall because of the ac possibly overheating!
I really feel so blessed if things would have been slightly different we wouldn't be here. Dave and I are Ma's and Pa's for the pioneer trek when we were set apart I received a blessing that I would be watched over - protected and healthy and well.
If I wouldn't have had Brittany with me I wouldn't have had time to get both boys out, if I didn't have the boats I wouldn't have looked back so frequently, if it would have been Sat or Sun the wind was blowing at 45 - 65 mph all day and we would have caught the forest on fire, if we would have been on the freeway - it would have been disasterous - really everything that happened was a miracle - I am so grateful that I was able to get my family out safely! Brittany you are a HERO!

My dudes crack me UP!!!!! We had to go out of sacrament meeting for a little while. When returning I told them to be reverent and fold their arms. They led the way back to the front of the chapel. I looked up to the stand and saw Dave and the Bishop chuckling. I wasn't sure why until they walked past our bench. I sat down and called them and they turned around - apparently they walked up with arms folded and eyes closed. HAHA

I love this pictue. I think it is one of my all time favorites! Dad and Faith looking at the Temple! I love seeing my Dad with his arm around her telling her stories. I am so grateful for my parents and all that they do for all of us! I know without question I can count on them for anything! I love they way they have embraced my husband and all of my siblings spouses as part of the family! They love them every bit as much as the love us! I have thought a lot about that lately - as my kids get older and I think of them getting married someday! I hope I can be like them! Camping last summer!

We decided to go camping last summer which was really fun and actually good timing. They evacuated our area while we were gone - due to the flooding - due to the fires. And un-evacuated our area before we came home! We had the best time!!!! It rained like crazy the whole time - but really some awesome memories!!! We fished, played games, played minute to win it, sang songs, went for hikes. It really was the perfect camping trip!

Kara wanted a jeep for Christmas two years ago. Me - being the awesome mom that I am talked her out of it. But all year she would NOT let me forget it! She would tell me "Mom next year I am getting a jeep for sure." I will just ask Santa. Anyway - true to her word - she asked santa for a jeep. Well santa had one heck of a time finding one - but after some serious looking - we found a blue jeep. Not really girly - but - with my vinyl cutter I was able to put her name on the side and make it "awesome!" Guess who took it over.???? The boys are always in the "beach" - Poor Kara harldy gets to ride in it. But she is a trooper. She is always good about helping her little brothers. I am always amazed at the kindness my kids show each other. I think it is one of the coolest things about having a big family. You LEARN TO SHARE!!! People are always telling me how kind and considerate my kids are - kind of makes me smile thinking - it's the only way they can survive. It's not me and my super great parenting skills LOL - it is survival. Makes me smile.

WOW baby! Getting old! (I know, I know... I am actually 6 months and 3 days older! But whose counting???) We had a great day! The kids LOVE giving him presents. Although Luke, thinks everything is his. He gets so mad - even if I say something about my Brittany (or any of the other kids) He yells MY Brittany!!! Think he has a problem with entitlement (along with A LOT of America)???
Anyway, we had a nice day! Dave is always a lot of fun! And what a CUTE guy he is! OK so he hates being called cute - but dang he is!!!! Every Sunday he sits up on the stand and I get to sit and look at him and realize what a wonderful man he is! I love that boy!
Since we have birthdays in August, 2 in September, October, November, December, February, March, and May! This is the begining of the chaos. But what fun it is. One year I tried to combine all of my shopping. I just had 2 things for each person (one for birthday and one for Christmas) but ya know - when you times that by 9 it adds up to be A LOT!!! Anyway I had about 8 people tell me they wished they were my kid - I guess they thought just one or two people were getting all of the loot! LOL

We bought the Leaf Loft Flower Shoppe! It has been great! I have an area there for my boys - and the rest of the kids have been amazing helpers after school. And can I tell you how much I have enjoyed working with my new friend Pennie (prior owner) - she is teaching me so much. And of course working with the flowers! I still have so much to learn - but it has been such a great experience. I'm not officially open until Monday - but I had someone walk in today and I had my first sale! On a friday several weeks ago - we decided we needed some time with just the boys - we dropped the rest of the kidos off to school and drove 2 hours to PHX to the zoo. We stayed for about 1.5 hours and drove back 2 hours to pick up the kids from school! Kind of a crazy day - but nice to have some alone time with each other and the boys.

Wednesday was an awesome day at the Oldroyd home! We got two beautiful Morgan horses! It was so fun! The kids didn't know we were getting them. So I had them out in the front yard doing yard work and the WONDERFUL ladies who gave us the horses came riding up! At first all of the kids were just confused - are they giving us a ride or what? Then Susan said - how do you like your horses? The kids were so excited! Brit got teary eyed. It really was great! We are loving these guys. Joy and Jeremy - awesome! We love them!

Memorial Weekend Camping

We have been promising the kidos a campout forever. We decided NO MATTER WHAT we are taking them camping. So we loaded up our (1970's pop up tent) and headed out to Lake Mary to camp for the weekend. Ok so it rained the entire first day! (over an inch) We looked like the biggest red-necks ever! Our before mentioned pop up tent trailer (we duct taped som fake tail lights on the trailer! I will take a picture for a future post! LOL We took two other tents, a HUGE white van, 7 kids and a crazy mom and dad. We had a blast! We did puzzles, played games, got wet! (and cold the high was about 45!)

Chicken Rolls

These are great!
2 cups of cooked chicken cubed
3oz. cream cheese softened
1/3 cup melted butter
2 green onions
1/3 cup seasoned bread crumbs
tube of fridge rolls

mix chicken, cream cheese, onions and put large spoonful into each roll and roll up tight.
dip in butter and roll in bread crumbs. Bake 350 for 25 minutes.

Last night we had the first big snow of the season. Actually it is on going! The kids are home today with a snow day. It should keep snowing all day and thru Thurs. WOW! Anyway - it is beautiful! I love these days when we just hang out and play and have hot cocoa! Last night for FHE we played in the snow. We couldn't find our sleds so we found a baby swim tube! Dave pulled the kids on it running around - when that proved too hard - we do have teenagers - we hooked it up to the truck and towed them around the back yard - did I mention how much I love my new house - with LAND!!!

We had a great time setting up our Christmas Trees for FHE! I love this time of year. I am so very grateful to our Savior and all that He has done for me. I really love looking at the Christmas lights and thinking about all of my many many blessings! The babies are amazed at the tree. So far they haven't knocked it over. (Knock on wood!)

Day after Thanksgiving Sales

The day after Thanksgiving - Dave's Mom, Sisters, and myself did some damage. We had a great time - even though we woke up at 4:00am! CRAZY!!! It was a blast!

Murder Mystery Party

Dave's family came for Thanksgiving this year! We had a wonderful time. We really enjoyed them! Thanks for coming. Janna even talked me into getting up at 4:00 am to go shopping the day after Christmas! But we had SOOO much fun! It really was a great time and we really found great deals!

They highlight of the weekend was the Murder Mystery Dinner Sara and Lindsay hosted! It was a great dinner and so much fun! Here are pictures of us in "character". Thanks! We had a great time!

Anniversary

Dave and I went to Cirque Du Soleil for our 16 year anniversary! It was so great! Really, really impressive. GO if you get the chance! AMAZING!

Anyway I am so grateful to be married to my best friend! He is such a wonderful man! I am constantly amazed at his goodness! He is WONDERFUL!!!

Luke is such a great boy! We love him! When he first came home he had a hard time but now he is really happy! He is so much fun. He cracks us up. We love you Luke!

Holy Ghost

A couple of months ago I was cleaning the house with Kara (6 years old) and she asked me why we have so many pictures of Jesus. I told her because we love Him and want to remember Him. She than asked why we don't have any pictures of Heavenly Father. I told her we just don't really have any pictures of Heavenly Father. She got the biggest smile on her face and said " I know why we don't have any pictures of the Holy Ghost" Surprised I asked why. She said "that would be really weird" again I was surprised and asked why that would be weird. She said " A floating head?" I asked her what she meant she said "The Holy Ghost doesn't have a body!" I guess if you think about it it makes perfect sense. What a sweetheart. Sometimes I think we need to make sure our little sweethearts understand really what we mean.

Today has been a good day. Sometimes I get so caught up in life and the business of everything that I forget how very blessed I am. I have everything I have ever dreamed about! The worlds most wonderful husband. 7 beautiful, healthy children, and wonderful friends. Life is good. Today is my sweet Jess's birthday. It takes me back to the day she was born in Oklahoma. She has always been such a joy to us. Such a special girl. I also was playing with my babies - remembering this time last year Dave and I went to Guatemala to visit them for the first time. The hardest thing I ever did was spend a week with them and then have to leave them!!!!! Not knowing when we would be able to bring them home - everyon told me it would someday just be a memory - and it it. They are here! They are trully part of our family! I love my children so much! Such wonderful kidos!
